Biography

Attorney Joseph E. Fieschko, Jr.

"Smart, Tough Attorneys"

I was born on July 11, 1953, raised in Pittsburgh and attended South Hills Catholic High School, graduating in 1971. I graduated from Brown University in 1975 and the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Law in 1978. From 1978 to 1981 I worked for a trial law firm, primarily practicing in the areas of personal injury, workers compensation and social security disability. In August of 1981 I formed my own law firm, and added the area of bankruptcy to my practice. In 1994 I began working on lawsuits for unpaid overtime. I have concentrated my practice on these five areas of the law since that time.

Over the course of my career I have handled thousands of cases in these five areas. Some of the personal injury and class action cases have involved settlements or verdicts of hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. Some of my cases have involved disputes of under one thousand dollars. I always represent individuals, never corporations or insurance companies. The majority of my cases are litigated in Pennsylvania, but I am also admitted to practice law in West Virginia. I handle class actions for unpaid overtime all over the country, and three of my largest cases were filed in Louisiana, New Mexico, Ohio and California.

Since 1981, my central office has been located in downtown Pittsburgh, with two satellite office in Uniontown and Somerset. I am a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. I participated in the Allegheny County Masters program, where I served as a Special Master, presiding over a number of civil jury trials in Allegheny County. Some of my cases have involved noteworthy legal principals and have resulted in published legal opinions, such as Moss v. Crawford 201 F.R.D. 398 (W.D. Pa. 2000), Cerutti v. Frito Lay 777 F.Supp. 2d 920 (W.D.Pa. 2011), Altier v. Worley Catastrophe, LLC 2012 WL 161824 (E.D. La. 2012), Bucci v. WCAB 758 A.2d 279 (Pa.Cmmwlth. 2000), Rockwell International v. WCAB 736 A.2d 742 (Pa.Cmmwlth. 1999) and LTV Steel v. WCAB 784 A.2d 217 (Pa.Cmmwlth. 2001).

My philosophy has been to help clients to substantially improve the quality of their lives by helping them to pursue their legal claims. My goal is to leave each client in a substantially better situation than I found them, and I can usually accomplish that goal.
